Responsibilities:
Performs day-to-day administrative functions and general office duties including but not limited to word processing, copying, filing, faxing, answering phones and data entry.
Prepares and submits billing data and medical claims to insurance companies by analyzing the charges posted and comparing them to the documentation in our EMR system and making changes if necessary to ensure accuracy and compliance
Ensures the patient’s insurance information is accurate and up to date.
Complies with medical coding guidelines and policies
Works on clearing house rejections and insurance front-end rejections.
Posts electronic and manual insurance payments.
Works on claim denials and writes appeal letters for denied claims as needed.
Prepares bills and invoices, and documenting amounts due for medical procedures and services.
Answers patient or insurance telephone inquiries.
Posts patient payments received by mail, phone or online.
Helps patients with payment plans
Follows up on delinquent accounts and refers them to a collection agency if necessary.
Follows up and clarifies any information that is not clear to other staff members
Performs other duties as required
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED is required
CPC Certification
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Excellent customer service and computer skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Friendly, personable demeanor
Detail oriented
Ability to multi-task
A minimum experience of two years billing experience in the medical field is preferred but not required.
