Summary:
The Girls Varsity Basketball Coach is responsible to oversee, develop and grow the basketball program.
This position reports to the Director of Athletics.
Responsibilities: Attends athletic department meetings when scheduled.
Assists the Director of Athletics in the interviewing of prospective coaches for assigned assistant positions.
Passes MHSAA rules meetings online on a yearly basis.
Maintains professional competency by attending clinics.
Encourages athletes to excel in academic work.
Submits an End of the Season Checklist in a timely manner.
Supervises the issuance, cleaning, storage, return and care of all athletic uniforms and equipment.
Advises the Director of Athletics with the purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate.
Oversees the safety conditions of the area when team members are practicing.
Enforces disciplined behavior, code of fair play, and establishes and oversees penalties for not following team and school standards.
Reports all incidents to the Director of Athletics.
Establishes an effective relationship with players, parents, and administrators.
Attends practices, games, and meetings punctually.
Uses professional conduct, language, and decorum with players, opponents, officials, and fans.
Works with the Director of Athletics to maintain player eligibility information.
Keeps the Director of Athletics informed of any or all problems before, during, or after all sporting events.
Teaches individual participants the skills necessary for the highest possible achievement in the sport involved.
Plans and supervises a regular program of practice in season.
Assists players regarding future plans.
Example: college entrance, scholarships, and so forth.
Submits necessary rosters, physical forms and eligibility in a timely fashion.
Is a positive role model.
Maintains team attendance records and medical emergency cards.
Works to promote increased participation to improve methods, techniques, strengths, and endurance both in and out of season.
Submits written criteria for "cutting" athletes at tryouts.
Displays self-control and maintains a positive profile in contest situations with officials.
Reports scores of contests to the media after every contest.
Provides supervision of locker room and training room.
Uses supplementary funds in an accountable manner.
Encourages volunteerism amongst athletes, parents and community.
Leads a pre-season parent meeting to discuss expectations, roles and responsibilities, league rules, safety precautions, etc.
Performs such other services and assumes such other duties as assigned by the administrator in charge, which are not in violation of the master contract, school district policies, or rules and regulations.
Qualifications: CPR/AED, CAP Certified Concussion Protocol.
Replacement Position Once the posting deadline date has been met (if applicable), the supervisor/principal will review applications and schedule interviews with the most qualified candidates.
