Nature of Work
This position is located at the Lake Michigan Filtration Plant (17350 Lake Michigan Dr, West Olive, MI).
This is technical work assuring the proper and effective operation of a water treatment or pumping plant on an assigned shift.
Work is performed under the general supervision of a shift supervisor or other supervisor or superintendent.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job.
Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
Assures the proper effective operation of the water treatment or pumping plant on an assigned shift.
Makes periodic rounds of treatment plant observing operating conditions and recording meter and gauge readings; takes water samples.
Records data from meters, gauges, control panels; adjusts chemical feed as instructed.
Backflushes filters and basins; handles chlorine in a safe, effective manner; assures proper working order of chlorine related equipment.
Adjusts fluoride feed pumps as directed by senior operator
Inspects and adjusts equipment.
Cleans and maintains treatment plant and pumping stations; prepares and paints equipment, walls, floors and the like; washes, waxes, buffs floors; empties trash; cleans and sanitizes bathroom fixtures, drinking fountain, sinks and the like; dusts furniture, shelves, counters and the like.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Training and Experience
Required Education and Experience
High School diploma (or GED equivalent)
-AND-
Experience related to water treatment activities
-OR-
Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities
Required Licenses or Certifications
Valid Michigan driver's license
Preferred Licenses or Certifications:
Michigan "F-4" or "S-4" level water operator's certificate
