Under limited supervision, provides respiratory therapy services to patients as ordered by physicians, according to established protocols, policies and procedures.
Performs diagnostic procedures as required.
Respiratory therapy services include, but are not limited to, pulmonary function screening, aerosol treatments, incentive spirometry, CPR, postural drainage and chest percussion,arterial punctures and blood gas analyses, oxygen therapy, and ventilator management.
Diagnostic procedures include, but are not limited to ECG's, Holter monitor setup and scanning, stress tests.
This position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and service to pediatrics to geriatrics ages 0-60+ years.

95/hour + shift differential Employment Type: Full Time Nights, 72 hours every 2 weeks Schedule: 6:30 pm - 7:00 am Requirements: Graduate of an American Medical Association/Committee for Accreditation Respiratory Therapy Education accredited program for respiratory therapy required, 2 years clinical experience required, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials required *Current employees not eligible for Sign On Bonus Patient Assessment: Completes patient assessments before and after providing services; assesses safety, effectiveness, and outcome of services provided.
Completes appropriate documentation and provides appropriate communication to others (within department and in other departments).
Appropriately prioritizes and manages patient care responsibilities.
Administers respiratory modalities: Selects and utilizes appropriate equipment and supplies; completes assignments efficiently and accurately and clears work queue; completes appropriate documentation; makes appropriate recommendations to improve care; obtains complete report when beginning shift and provides a complete report to others when ending shift.
Applies departmental protocols and clinical practice guidelines with high precision and compliance when indicated, and does so with minimal supervision.
Routinely applies new techniques and procedures with high proficiency within 30 days of training/orientation.
Establishes and manages basic mechanical ventilation with most commonly used ventilators with high proficiency and minimal-to-no-supervision.
Moderate-to-frequent use of more complex forms of mechanical ventilation (e.
g.
, NPPV, PRVC, BiLevel, APRV and transport) with moderate proficiency and occasional supervision.
Proficiently operates all mechanical ventilators used in-house.
Performs weaning mechanics as ordered with high proficiency in >90% of the ventilator patients cared for.
Routinely develops or refines the ventilator care plan and communicates to the patient care team.
Collects specimens, performs basic and more complex diagnostic testing (e.
g.
, bronchoscopy assist, BAL), and validates the quality of the results with moderate-to-high proficiency and minimal supervision.
Uses effective time management in work organization and triaging.
With consideration for work assignment, routinely ( >90%) completes work assignment with minimal assistance.
Patient Education: Provides appropriate educational information and materials to patients and caregivers (asthma, smoking cessation, MDI, spacer, medications, goals of therapy, etc.
).
Provides educational training to patient and/or family members as appropriate.
• Teamwork - Works effectively and appropriately communicates with other healthcare members, the patient, and families.
Performs departmental support functions.
Participates in departmental stocking, equipment cleaning and assembly, equipment troubleshooting and repair.
Participates in the development and revision of policies, procedures, and protocols, peer education and training, in-service and training initiatives for other departments.
Consistently communicates with healthcare members on the care plan, and does so in a manner consistent with the Organization standards.
Actively seeks ways to assist other members of the healthcare team.
