*Primary Responsibilities:* Michigan Lakeshore Aquatics, based out of the Holland Aquatic Center, in Holland, Michigan is seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Diving Coach to lead our diving program.
The successful candidate will be responsible for coaching athletes of all levels, from beginners to national-level competitors, in the art and technique of diving.
*Specific Responsibilities: * * Develop and implement a comprehensive diving program that caters to athletes of varying skill levels, from novice to elite.
* Plan and conduct engaging and effective training sessions that focus on skill development, technique refinement, strength conditioning, and mental preparation.
* Provide personalized instruction and feedback to athletes to help them achieve their individual goals and maximize their potential.
* Foster a positive and supportive training environment that promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth.
* Collaborate with other coaches and staff members to coordinate practice schedules, meet logistics, and team events.
* Monitor and assess athletes’ progress regularly, adjusting training plans as needed to ensure continual improvement and peak performance.
* Prepare athletes for competitions at local, regional, and national levels, including overseeing meet entries, warm-up routines, and competition strategies.
* Serve as a mentor and role model for athletes, instilling values of discipline, dedication, and resilience both in and out of the pool.
* Maintain open and effective communication with athletes, parents, and program administrators regarding training schedules, performance expectations, and program updates.
* Stay informed about current trends, techniques, and developments in the sport of diving through ongoing education and professional development opportunities.
*Essential Qualifications:* * Previous coaching experience in competitive diving, with a proven track record of success at various levels of competition.
* Certification from a recognized diving coaching organization, such as USA Diving or equivalent, preferred.
* Strong knowledge of diving fundamentals, techniques, and training methodologies.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire athletes of all ages and abilities.
* Organizational skills and attention to detail to effectively manage training schedules, meet logistics, and administrative tasks.
* Commitment to upholding the values of integrity, sportsmanship, and respect within the diving program and the broader aquatics community.
* Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to accommodate training sessions and competition schedules.
* Valid lifeguard certification and CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
*Preferred Qualifications:* * A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
* A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible head coaching experience in an age-group dive coaching program, organization, club, or equivalent.
* Detailed knowledge of diving techniques and rules, including tower and platform diving.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to motivate and inspire athletes.
* Strong organizational and time management skills.
* Excellent problem-solving skills.
* Certifications: Valid diving coach certification (USA Swimming).
* CPR and First Aid Certification.
