Description Overview Perrigo is hiring an Electrical Engineer to support the Allegan and Holland, Michigan sites.
The Electrical Engineer serves as the subject matter expert on electrical equipment and utilities.
The Electrical Engineer manages facilities related capital projects by controlling costs, timelines and customer expectations.
The Electrical Engineer ensures ongoing facility work stays within budget, supports maintenance in troubleshooting issues, investigates and pursues innovative ideas to reduce costs, improve quality and increase productivity to the business.
The candidate will lead project teams, technician staff, contractors/vendors in the delivery of electrical utility systems, including diesel generation, medium/low voltage distribution, UPS system/distribution, and energy management programs.
Scope of the Role Has primary accountability for site electrical, security/life safety, and fire protection.
Manages facility related projects, provides troubleshooting capability, and develops and reviews appropriate procedures and standards.
Completes project functions within agreed upon time frames and on budget to ensure operations are efficiently maintained, and completes technical functions, ensuring timely turnaround.
Leads facility electrical design including one line diagrams, power distribution systems, lighting, conduit fill, low voltage system layout, medium and high voltage distribution design.
Leads electrical studies such as Fault Current, Overcurrent Coordination, and Arc Flash.
Develops electrical infrastructure strategies for site expansion, equipment reliability and Life Cycle management.
Provides guidance on the preparation/plan of equipment replacement (life cycle) to include in capital forecast and spending plan.
Coordinate maintenance projects with budget assessments and evaluation of timeline.
Management and execution of multiple projects simultaneously including but not limiting to planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating the technical reviews.
Assist Facilities Management in developing energy policy and operating standards consistent with State of Michigan guidelines for energy consumption and management.
Supports corporate responsibility and sustainability program.
Participates in ESG (Environmental Social Governance) initiatives.
Identifies and leads energy reduction projects.
Manages relationship with Utility Providers or Municipalities.
Experience Required Bachelors degree required.
Preference for those with an electrical engineering degree.
Knowledge of the electrical code and applicable building codes.
Experience with facility electrical design including one line diagrams, power distribution systems, lighting, conduit fill, low voltage system layout, medium and high voltage distribution design.
Technical expertise relating to Electrical Studies such as Fault Current, Overcurrent Coordination, and Arc Flash.
Knowledge of static electricity as it relates to personnel injury.
Knowledge of hazardous locations with both vapors and dust, and the risks associated with those areas.
Knowledge of extreme environments like washdown, wet, and outdoor as it relates to electrical installations.
Knowledge of security/life safety and fire protection.
These skills are typically acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering field; combined with a minimum of 7+ years of relevant work experience.
Computer experience in MS Office Suite, MS Project, MS Power Point, Energy Management software, and AutoCAD required.
