Serves as an integral member of the patient care team by performing procedural scrub with knowledge and anticipation to physician needs and concerns to determine any appropriate care as needed.
Follows established procedure guidelines while performing a wide variety of interventional radiology procedures.
Procure all the equipment for any given procedure.
Position the patient and select radiation exposure parameters for optimal images during procedure.
Maintain a high degree of accuracy and awareness for radiation exposure safety, basic ECG and vital sign interpretation.
Demonstrates a thorough understanding of normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology, interventional supplies and equipment operation.
This position requires the knowledge of interventional radiology equipment utilizing critical thinking skills during procedures and emergency situations per Practice Standards for Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (2000, American Society of Radiologic Technologists).
Perform clerical duties as needed by collecting quality data and statistics, duplicating charts/images as needed for consults/transfers.
Interact with PACS specialist along with grasp of the system to ensure accurate image archival.
This position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and service appropriate to the age of the patients served in their area.
Employment Type: Part Time Shift: Days, varied hours Weekly Scheduled Hours: 10 Requirements: - Associates Degree or higher education - Certified R-RT - BLS/CPR through the American Heart Association Standards of Assessment In conjunction with the interventional radiology team provides input to recommended changes in procedural protocols.
Monitors image production to determine technical acceptability.
Achieves unit specific initial and ongoing competencies.
Aware of radiation badge readings to maintain acceptable levels.
Maintains and documents condition of radiation safety garments and tracks radiation dose badge readings.
Maintains controlled access to restricted area during radiation exposure to ensure safety of patients, visitors, and hospital personnel.
Applies principles of radiation safety and protection at all times, following ALARA guidelines to minimize radiation exposure to patient and staff.
Coordinates with equipment vendors and/or Holland Hospital Biomedical team to maintain and calibrate imaging equipment.
Collects and communicates pertinent information about patient's health status to assist physician and interventional radiology team in providing appropriate imaging and therapeutic services.
Analysis / Actions Analyzes information obtained during assessment phase to determine the most appropriate action plan to enhance patient safety and comfort, optimize diagnostic and therapeutic quality, and improve cost effectiveness.
Maintains equipment inventory and technical support communication with applicable vendors, rotating stock and removing expired supplies.
Participates actively in team to keep work area and multi-purpose fluoroscopy room clean and organized.
Assists with regulatory checks as delegated.
Maintains integrity of medical supplies such as lot/expiration, sterility, etc.
Assists in tracking implantable devices.
Adheres to institutional standards in accordance with recognized accrediting and regulatory bodies.
Education Informs the patient, public, and other health care providers about procedures, equipment and facilities.
Presents explanations and instructions at the learner's level of understanding and learning style.
Maintains current knowledge in clinical practice.
Demonstrates competency in the function an operation of imaging equipment, support equipment, and information systems including patient electronic records and image/procedure documentation.
Demonstrates competency and comprehensive knowledge of diagnostic and interventional supplies/equipment to be a resource for department peers.
Performance / Implementation Supports the operation of the unit by completing assigned tasks such as assisting physician with procedure maintaining aseptic technique, and supporting comprehensive/holistic patient care in an efficient, timely manner.
Assist in pre and post procedural care; performs appropriate patient care in a sterile environment under the guidance of a physician.
Assists in other areas of the radiology department if needed as directed by manager.
Demonstrates knowledge of environment of care and infection control per Holland Hospital policies.
Demonstrates understanding of knowledge of vital sign monitoring, medications, adverse reactions, and emergency care.
Adheres to the Code of Ethics, and established practice standards set forth by Holland Hospital and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Participates in all aspects of quality assurance and assists in implementing activities to correct any quality assurance issues.
Outcome Measurement / Documentation Documents and/or communicates completed tasks when required.
Investigates new, innovative methods and applies them in practice.
Shares information with colleagues to improve the quality and efficiency of patient services.
Participates in data collection and case review to ensure optimal services are provided.
Works collaboratively with Radiology Leadership, Radiology RNs, and Interventional Radiologists to foster product line growth and supports the mission and vision of the Radiology Department.
