JOB DESCRIPTION The Director’s Assistant is an integral part of the directing team.
This position will provide selected candidates with the opportunity to learn and work alongside professional Equity and non-Equity theater personnel.
The Director’s Assistant is expected to devote such amounts of time, energy and skill as may be necessary to perform the duties required hereunder, and shall perform each and every duty and obligation with due diligence and to the best of their knowledge, skill, judgment, and ability.
Hours are dependent on rehearsal and performance times and include evenings and weekends.
Opportunities, duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Attending daily rehearsals, weekly production meetings and special related events as reasonably requested by the Artistic Director Assisting the Director with notes, scheduling and communications Coordinating with the Artistic Director, Stage Manager, Technical Director and Producer As part of the Directing staff, the Independent Contractor may overhear and/or be privy to confidential or proprietary information; s/he agrees not to use or disclose to others (except as necessary in the course of this position’s duties) any such information The Independent Contractor agrees to be available at such times and places as are designated by the Artistic Director to meet with other Theatre personnel, the Producer and/or the Board of Directors REQUIREMENTS Strong organizational skills Strong verbal and written skills Ability to follow directions and to work with minimal supervision Cultural competency.
The ability to interact with people of different cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds effectively with understanding and tolerance REPORTS TO: The Director's Assistant reports to the Director.
Final employment authority is with the Producer and Artistic Director.
COMMITMENT: This is a position running for the length of rehearsal and tech week, generally 4 weeks.
It is a temporary seasonal, full-time position.
It is possible to hold this position for more than one production per season.

BEAUTIFUL May 21 - Pre-production Week May 27 - Actor Move in May 28 - First Rehearsal June 15 - Designer Run / First day for crew June 16 - Wandelprobe Rehearsal June 18, 19, 20 - Tech Week: Eight-out-of-Ten hour days June 21 - Director's Circle Preview (First Night) June 22 - Opening (last day of contract) July 14 - Closing THE PROM July 9 - Pre-production Week July 16 - Actor Move in July 17 - First Rehearsal Aug 3 - Designer Run / First day for crew (and Benefit) Aug 4 - Wandelprobe Rehearsal Aug 6, 7, 8 -Tech Week: Eight-out-of-Ten hour days Aug 9 - Director's Circle Preview (First Night) August 10 - Opening (last day of contract) Sept 1 - Closing COMPENSATION: Starting at $15/hour, plus 2 comp tickets, bus pass, company doctor support and gym membership.
Compensated for overtime.
