*Swim Instructor*
*Primary Responsibilities:*
* Ensure the safety and supervision of all students in the HAC Swim School Program.
* Understand and teach the HAC Adaptive Swim School Program
* Project a friendly, positive outlook at all times.
* Assist with training and coaching of instructional program team members.
*Specific Responsibilities:*
* Prepare for the instruction of students so that they will progress through the program to their maximum skill level.
* Understand and enforce all pool rules with students to ensure their safety during the lesson.
* Advise the HAC Instructional Program Manager of any health or student safety concerns.
* Understand HAC Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and take appropriate action as needed.
* Maintain required certifications.
(_Classes or certifications that are work-related may be reimbursed and require advanced approval of the Instructional Program Manager_).
This includes American Red Cross Lifeguarding and Water Safety Instruction (within 3 months of hire).
* Attend all in-service, staff meetings, or training sessions.
* Support programming by assisting with cleaning and laundry duties, as assigned.
* Identify facility needs and assist staff and guests in all areas of the facility as needed.
* Communicate with parents about student progress and any questions and/or issues.
* Available to teach daytime, evening, and/or weekend lessons.
*Essential Qualifications:*
* Minimum of 18 years of age
* In-depth understanding of swimming skills and learning progressions.
* Possess and maintain lifeguard certification.
* Effective communication skills.
* Possess an ability to work well with children and adults.
* Demonstrate a mature attitude and judgement.
* Demonstrate a willingness to take direction or input from others.
*Preferred Qualifications:*
* Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
* American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor

All persons interested in teaching swimming should be capable of recognizing and demonstrating all types of swimming strokes and know how to present swimming skills in a logical teaching progression.
